On April 11, 2018, Dean Ted Ruger and more than 125 students, faculty, and alumni joined together to officially launch Penn Law’s new campaign, “The Power of Penn Law – Advocates for a New Era.” The technology-themed celebration, held at the University’s Pennovation Works, featured displays of robotics, a 360-degree video immersion room, and a replica of the Penn Law Goat made entirely out of K’Nex.
During dinner, five speakers provided personal accounts of their time at Penn Law and described the need for support of the five campaign priorities – Nick Hall L’18 (“Access and Opportunity”), Jennifer Ko L’18 (“Investing in Leaders”), Frank Broomell L’19 (“Pathways to Service”), Teddi Josephson C’12 GEN’19 L’19 (“New Era Discoveries”), and Professor Dorothy Roberts, the Weiss Professor of Law & Sociology and the Alexander Professor of Civil Rights (“Transformative Thinkers”). These priorities are unique opportunities made possible by Penn Law, and each prepares graduates for a rapidly-changing legal world.
With the end of the event, the “Power of Penn Law” campaign was off and running. The $100,000,000 goal is ambitious, but it will ensure the Law School’s place as a leading institution with graduates ready to address society’s myriad challenges.
