Law School To Host Advancing Inclusive Leadership Forum

The Forum brings together leaders in business, law, multinationals, venture capital, business start-ups, and legal entities.

Convened by Rangita de Silva de Alwis, University of Pennsylvania Carey Law’s Executive Education Programs is hosting and producing the Forum on Advancing Inclusive Leadership on October 12- 15, 2020. Coming at a critical moment in time, the Forum brings together leaders in business and law, including Craig Newmark, the Founder of Craigslist, and leaders from Microsoft as well as from across a broad array of multinationals, venture capitalists, business start-ups, and legal entities.

Today, Craig Newmark announced his plan to address the growing food insecurity in New York with an initial gift of $10 million to address the $6 billion food security gap.

This week, Microsoft’s General Counsel released a statement reaffirming its commitment to invest an additional $150 million over the next five years. In a spirit of transparency, Microsoft disclosed that it was contacted last week by the United States Department of Labor Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regarding some of the commitments they had made in June to address issues faced by the Black and African American community. Specifically, the OFCCP has focused on whether Microsoft’s commitment to double the number of Black and African American senior leaders in the U.S. workforce by 2025 could constitute unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, which would violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

Dev Stahlkopf, Corporate Vice President and General Counsel of Microsoft, has written extensively on the importance of inclusive leadership.
